My name is Nicholas Bradford, and I am proud to teach Computer Science and Principles of Applied Engineering at Forbes Middle School.

Our classes emphasize hands-on projects, professional habits, and real-world problem solving in a supportive, structured environment.

Classroom Information

Expectations (Summary)

  • Daily Routine: Class begins with a warm-up and usually ends with an exit ticket.
  • Journals: Checked weekly for completeness and effort.
  • Homework: Typically assigned on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; generally due the next class day where homework would be assigned.
  • Grading Policy:
    • Major Assessments – 70% (tests, projects; quizzes count as half a major grade)
    • Homework/Practice – 30%

Policies

  • Late/Retakes: See the syllabus for timelines and details.
  • Devices & Phones: School devices are for coursework only. Phones must remain off and stored per GISD guidelines and Texas law.
  • Academic Integrity: All work must reflect the student’s own effort. Generative AI tools are not permitted where specified in the syllabus.

Courses

Fundamentals of Computer Science
Computing systems & networks, digital citizenship/cybersecurity, Python programming, and introductory web design. Emphasis on clear communication, safe/ethical tech use, and iterative problem-solving.

Principles of Applied Engineering
Engineering design process, measurement & safety, basic electronics/robotics foundations, and a capstone experience that mirrors real-world engineering teamwork and documentation.

  • Assignments & Announcements: Google Classroom
  • Grades: Skyward
  • Email Response: Typically within 24 hours on school days; assignment feedback generally within 72 hours.
