Introduction

My name is Nicholas Bradford, and I am proud to teach Fundamentals of Computer Science, Digital Media and Principles of Applied Engineering at Forbes Middle School.

Our classes emphasize hands-on projects, professional habits, and real-world problem solving in a supportive, structured environment.

Policies

Late Work & Retakes: See the syllabus for specific timelines and details.
Devices & Phones: School devices are for coursework only. Personal phones must remain off and stored per GISD guidelines and Texas law.
Food/Drink/Gum: Food will remain in bags and lunchboxes during class, chewing gum will not be tolerated, and only closed lid containers in the lab area. These policies are to keep our classroom respectable and protect electronic equipment.
Academic Integrity: All work must reflect the student’s own effort. Generative AI tools are not permitted where specified in the syllabus.

Classroom Information

Expectations

Daily Routine: Class begins with a warm-up and usually ends with an exit ticket.
Journals: Daily Warmups and Note taking expected to help students succeed.
Homework: Typically assigned M/W/F; generally due the next class day where homework is assigned.

Grading Policy

70% Major Assessments
(Tests, projects; quizzes count as 1/2 major grade)

30% Homework & Practice

Courses & Communication

Fundamentals of Computer Science

Computing systems & networks, digital citizenship/cybersecurity, Python programming, and introductory web design. Emphasis on clear communication, safe/ethical tech use, and iterative problem-solving.

Principles of Applied Engineering

Engineering design process, measurement & safety, basic electronics/robotics foundations, and a capstone experience that mirrors real-world engineering teamwork and documentation.

Digital Media

An introduction to visual communication, multimedia creation, and digital storytelling. Students explore graphic design, photography, animation, video/audio production, and basic web design while building a professional digital portfolio.
